Claim, Reason, Assumption

Claim: The claim for my OpEd is that fast food is unhealthy and that options in the cougareat should be healthy options opposed to the unhealthy fast food options.
Reason: The main reason for my claim is that habits are formed in our youth. Healthy food choices need to be made now so that our futures are healthier and obesity can be avoided.

Assumption: I must assume that my readers are worried about their health now and in the future. I also must assume that the faculty of BYU are concerned about the health of their students and are willing to make a change.

  1. I like how you brought into play the Faculty. I honestly was just thinking of the students. I'm glad you are bringing up both points of view. It makes more variety, and actually makes you think more of the real problem. IT isn't just the food, but the people serving it, and allowing it to be served. Excellent point! :)

  2. I completely agree! I think its so true, and the faculty should also be interested in it, do they eat at the cougareat as well as students?

  3. Wouldn't it be great if healthy food could be offered as fast food. Fast food doesn't have to mean unhealthy. Students are busy and often stressed out and they eat at the cougareat because they don't have time for anything else. So it's easy and convenient to buy something and eat on the run. Vegetables, nuts, and fruits were natures original fast foods. Just pick and eat. Simple. It would be nice if that was a choice in the cougareat.

  4. PS...something to consider is that an individual has to be aware of the fact that he is making an unhealthy choice...that's where education comes in to play.
